The National Council for the social studies (NCSS) developed the standards. The NCSS standards are the basis for the design of curriculum and programme frameworks. When teachers and developers create programs of quality instruction, the standards serve as guides that improve student performance expectations.

In each level, domain indicators highlight the knowledge and skills necessary to achieve the objectives as the stages describe the learning skills. National guidelines (NCDG 2004) career development learning skills show a correlation with economics, geography, and civics standards when students -

Identify and demonstrate effective communication and positive social skills
Recognize and show that you have knowledge about respect, being open to and appreciate all kinds of human diversity
Demonstrate ability to get along with others and work effectively with them in groups
Recognize that their personal priorities, culture, beliefs and work values affect decision making
Describe how education, work and family experiences might affect their decisions
Fusion of curriculum of social studies and career education levels
Teachers and developers show the links between the elementary social studies standards and methods of the career education. The standards promote the integration of civic education, geography, economics, career knowledge and concepts of career exploration. Standards of education career of civic education, geography, economy and elementary school share the same subjects and are useful in the development of primary school civic education, geography and economy activities, lesson plans, kits, tools, projects and games. Social studies standards and national career development guidelines are fundamental systems for the design of curriculum of civic education, geography, and economy.
