Educational DVDs - a good resource in mixture of social studies lesson

A colleague recently described to me the ways she is to incorporate technology in their social studies classes. Although he was impressed with powerful strategies that she devised, I was distressed to see that she had not included any DVD or educational videos in the mix.
Frankly, despite the fact that the software of the computer and the Internet can offer some very stimulating and motivating activities for social studies, educational DVDs and videos provide a way to more closely control the Visual images to which the students are exposed. As they learn, students build concepts and understanding of visual stimulation they receive. Preview and selecting appropriate DVDs and videos, we can better control how this happens, rather than any site that is accessed randomly through an Internet search.
Ideas of my friend for technology-centric social studies classes
or other lands and ways of life - virtual field trips over the Internet
geographical discovery or technical - and GPS treasure hunt
policy - webquests to examine current issues and historical roots and current events or
or science of the Earth - geospatial sites (e.g. Google Earth)
or economy - bag simulations using the Internet to show how quickly changes the market
Suggestions to incorporate educational DVDs under the same topics
or other lands and ways of life - fighting 20th century tyranny - Video showing how people in the India, Pakistan, Uzbekistan and other countries must take great risks to improve conditions in their countries.
or techniques and geographical discovery - the five themes of geography DVD - students learn from peers (other students) in the video while they learn about the five themes of geography and how geographers study the Earth.
current events or political - and Amendment VIII: the death penalty - students travel virtually to the capital of the execution of the world (Huntsville, TX) to learn about one of our most controversial political issues - the death penalty.
or science of the Earth - a closer look at the Earth DVD - because pictures are included from above and below the surface of the Earth, students learn what makes it so special to our third planet from the Sun.
or economy - in and between communities - students learn the difference between goods and services, in both the public and private sectors.
I am pleased to report that my colleague has already introduced several educational DVDs in their lesson plans and also told me that teach some lessons is easier because much of interdisciplinary learning activities have been assigned to you. Clearly DVDs do not belong on the platform as "old" technology.
If want to start experiencing the benefits of using video effectively in your classroom and avoid making "the 7 biggest mistakes teachers make using Video in the classroom", the next step is to download a free copy of "7 elders mistakes teachers make using Video in the classroom" now.
The small company work is committed to creating quality educational videos for the classroom instruction. From the earliest stages of the script, all thematic content, images and music are intensely reviewed and selected for the meeting at the level of appropriate degree, the curriculum objectives and proprietary standards for our productions. The videos that we distribute to meet our high standards are also projected.
Teachers in the classroom of the 21st century is going to be better educators if they understand how to use multimedia in your lessons, if they understand the processes that research has shown be the most effective for improved student performance, and if you know how to find quality video resources that will enhance their lessons.
